What are the functions and roles of the printer's motherboard and power board?

The formatter board acts as the printer’s brain. It receives print‑job data from computers or networks, processes signals, identifies toner chips, and commands motors, sensors and other assemblies to work. If it fails, the device may fail to communicate, reject cartridges or stop responding to print commands.

The power supply board works as the power station. It converts household alternating current into various low‑voltage direct currents required by the machine. It delivers stable power to the mainboard, fuser unit, motors and sensors. Damaged power boards can lead to no power‑on, random shutdowns or partial component malfunctions.
